Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this fantastic 1 Gallon Stoneware Decorated Jar.
The jar's form and decoration make it easy to attribute to David Parr who made stoneware in Baltimore, Maryland from 1815 to 1855 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 98).
This beauty features a Tooled Rim with Groove for Ease of Tying a Cover Over the Top, and Two Large Brushed Cobalt Tulip Decorations. One has 16 leaves and a blossom with 6 petals, and the other has 8 leaves and a blossom with 4 petals. Bold cobalt was used throughout the decoration. Stands 10 1/2" tall.
Excellent Condition. Some light staining, otherwise as made. Typical manufacturing kiln touches in the making.
