Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Jug whose form and decoration indicate that it was made by Samuel Irvine of Newville, Pennsylvania.
Irvine bought the pottery of Henry Zigler in 1865 and made pottery until about 1880 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 44-45).
This beauty features a Semi-Ovoid Form, Tooled Spout with Cobalt Accent, Light and Shiny Gray Glaze, and Two Brushed Cobalt Tulips in Bold and Shiny Cobalt. Stands 14 3/4" tall.
Excellent Condition. A ping to the right of the handle as shown. Otherwise as made.
