Item 10068
Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this very attractive 2 Gallon Ovoid Jar with Tulip Garland.
It is easy to attribute to Richard Remmey who ran the family pottery in Philadelphia from the 1860's until the turn of the century (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 8-10).
Circa 1860, this beauty features an Ovoid Form, Tall Neck, Applied Handles, and a Brushed Tulip Garland Around the Middle. Two sideways tulips on each side in strong brushed cobalt. Each Tulip has 10 leaves and a blossom with 4 petals. Measures 11 3/4" tall and 8 1/2" wide across the top.
Excellent Condition. A 1/4" chip inside the rim and three chips outside the rim (1/4" to 1/2'). That's it! No base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. Three kiln touches in the making.
