Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Superb 1 Gallon Stoneware Jar made by "Hamilton and Jones."
This is the work of Frank Hamilton and John Jones who worked in Greensboro, Pennsylvania from 1865 to 1897 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 154-157).
Circa 1870, this beauty features Two Top Stripes, the Company Advertising in an Arch, and the main attraction, a Large Stemmed Rose Blossom Nestled among Seven Leaves. And talk about gorgeous cobalt! Can be seen from space! Stands 10" tall.
This jar was made with the fine clay from a glacial deposit on the nearby Monogahela River which eventually ran out.
Excellent Condition. A 1" chip on the bottom edge. That's it! No rim chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
