Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Shapely Double-Handled Jug made and stamped by "Swaine."
This is the work of Robert and Thomas Swaine or Sutton Heath Pottery, Prescot, Lancanshire, England. They worked approximately from 1825 to 1843.
Some of their larger jugs like this one were used in trans-Atlantic trade and came to the States prior to the Civil War.
This beauty features a Rounded Shoulder, Tapered Sides, Double Handles, Pottery Stamp on the Shoulder, and Brown Glaze. Stands 20" tall.
Excellent Condition. Minor nibbles and two narrow chips (1/4", 1/2") on the base. That's it! No spout chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
