Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this uncommon Stoneware Oyster Jar made by "E. Swasey & Co., Portland, Me, U.S.A.."
Eben Swasey ran the pottery in Portland with various partners from 1875 onward and the company continued beyond the turn of the century (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware , p. 37).
This beauty features the Oyster Jar Form with Large Opening, Handle, Two-Tone Glaze, and the Company Logo Incorporating the Pine Tree within a Keystone. Stands 5" tall.
Very Good Condition. A dime-size chip on the underside on the back. No rim chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
