Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 4 Gallon Stoneware Jar made by "T. F. Reppert, Greensboro, Pa." 
 
Thomas Reppert made pottery solo in Greensboro from 1884-1890 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 157-159).  
 
This beauty features a Top to Bottom Decoration.  From the top down is a broad stripe under the rim, a straight and a wavy stripe at the shoulder, the company advertising filling the body while surrounding a rising sun, a freehand capacity number 4 framed by leaves, and a broad straight stripe at the bottom.   All the decoration is complete, crisp, and executed in dark cobalt.  Stands 14 3/4" tall.
 
Excellent Condition.  A 1/4" chip on the left handle and some surface wear from use.  That's it!  No chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
