Item 9857
Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 16 Gallon Stoneware Jar made by "T. F. Reppert, Greensboro, Pa." I just had it shipped from a storage unit in Florida.
Thomas Reppert made pottery solo in Greensboro from 1884-1890 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 157-159).
This beauty features a Large Size with Top to Bottom Decoration. From the top down are two straight and a wavy stripe, a row of vining, the company advertising with snowflakes at the top and framing a wavy line with a fancy floral on both sides, a freehadn 16 capacity number framed by leaves, another row of vining, and a bottom stripe. Stands 24" tall.
Exceptional Condition. As made. No damage of any kind! There is a network of drying/firing lines inside at the bottom, but the are all surface only and in the making (closeup).
I cannot ship this jar, so will have to make arrangements to meet.
