Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 5 Gallon Stoneware Jar made by "T. F. Reppert, Successor to Jas. Hamilton & Co., Greensboro, Pa."
Thomas Reppert made pottery solo in Greensboro from 1884-1890 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 157-159).
This beauty features a Tooled Rim Accented with by Two Stripes, the Shoulder with a Wavy Stripe, Middle with the Company Advertising with Leaf and Tulip Accents, and a Freehand "5" Capacity Number Flanked by Leaves and Underscored by a Stripe at the Bottom. Stands 16 1/2" tall.
Good Condition. A 4" chip on the rim above the handle on the left side, scattered fine exfoliation (closeups of more concentrated spots), and light staining from use. No inner rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
