Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Stoneware Jug made by "T. F. Reppert, Successor to Jas. Hamilton & Co., Greensboro, Pa."

Thomas Reppert made pottery in Greensboro from 1884-1890 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 157-159).  This jug shows that he was trying to capitalize on the fame and fortune of his predecessor in a time when the stoneware market was declining.

This beauty features the Company Advertising with Tulips in the Upper Corners, a 4 Diamond Diamond in the Middle, and a Row of Diamonds and Dots Below.   Complete stencil with strong cobalt on a light gray glaze for pleasing contrast.

Excellent Condition.  A minor 1/8" glaze nibble on the spout, a 3/8" chip under the handle on the right side, and some light overall staining.  That's it!  No base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.  A glaze run on the right side in the making.

One of the better Reppert jugs that you will find.
