    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Sweet 2 Gallon Jar made and stamped by "T. P. Mead." 

     

    This is the mark of Truman P. Mead, son of Ira Mead, Sr., who made pottery in Summit and Portage Counties in the 1840's (F. Robert Treichler, A History of Northeast Ohio Stoneware , p. 30).

     

    Dating to the 1840's, this beauty features a Tall Lidded Jar Form, Flared Rim, Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Brushed Cobalt Floral on the Left Side.  Stands 12 3/4" tall. 

     

    Very Good Condition.  A 1/4" chip on the rim and a faint 5" vertical in-body line not seen inside (closeup).  No base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
