Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 3 Gallon Ovoid Jar made and stamped by "Thomas D. Chollar, Cortland"
Thomas Chollar worked in Cortland, New York with Joseph Darby from 1839-1849 and this jar was made at the beginning or end of that period (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware , p. 71).
This beauty sports an Early Ovoid Form, the Pottery Stamp with Generous Cobalt Washm and a Brushed Cobalt Floral. Stands 12 1/2" tall.
Excellent Condition. Some scattered light staining. Otherwise as made!
