    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this uncommon 2 Gallon Jug made by "Thompson & Tyler, Troy, N.Y." 

     

    This is the work of William Thompson and Isaac Tyler who made pottery in Troy for only about 1 year.  They bought the pottery of W. J. Seymour in 1858.  Thompson died in 1859 and Tyler partnered with Frederick Wetmore to form "Tyler & Co." (William Ketchum, Jr., Potters and Potteries of New York State, 1650-1900, 2nd ed., p. 176.

     

    This beauty features a Bold Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash and a Delicate Fancy Floral Executed with Slip Cup in Bright and Shiny Cobalt.  Stands 13 1/4" tall.

     

    Exceptional Condition.  As made.  No damage of any kind!  A stone ping on the right side in the making.
