Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful Tiny Stoneware Jar with 3 Tulips easily attributed to Richard Remmey who ran the family pottery in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania from the 1860's until the turn of the century (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 8-10).
Circa 1860, this beauty features a Small Size,Squared Rim, Tooled Shoulder, and a Garland of Three Brushed Cobalt Sideways Tulips Around the Middle. The cobalt is rich and shiny. Stands 7 1/4" tall.
Excellent Condition. Two minor 3/16" flakes inside the rim and one on top, and a 1/4" chip on the base. That's it! No hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. A small surface clay void near the base in the making (closeup).
