    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks are these two wonderful Billheads from the pottery of Brady and Ryan of Ellenville, New  York which is labeled the "Ellenville Stone-ware Pottery" on the billhead.

     

    Samuel Brady and John J. Ryan ran their pottery in Ellenville from 1878-1897 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware , p. 66).

     

    These beauties feature the Company advertising with a Small Jug in the Upper Left Corner and a Small Crock in the Upper Right Corner.  

     

    Both billheads were written for Miss Campbell Sprague of Roscoe, N.Y. The larger one is dated August 29, 1889 and the smaller is dated June 12, 1891.  

     

    The larger billhead measures 8 3/4" long and 7" wide.  Minor loss to the edges.  The smaller billhead measures 8 3/4" long and 4 3/4" wide.  Just the typical creases.
