Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Uncommon Blue and White Stoneware Lidded Large Jar.

Circa 1920, this beauty is made by the Western Stoneware Company.  See similar examples in Jim Martin and Bette Cooper, Monmouth-Western Stoneware,, pp. 86-87.

This gem is Molded to Resemble a Wooden Tub with Top and Bottom Metal Bands with Extended Handle Holders.  Diffused Blue Coloration with "LARD" Stenciled Across the Front.  Retains its original matching lid and a quality replacement bail handle.  Stands 5 3/4" tall.

This is a very difficult form of blue and white to find due to heavy use with slippery hands!

Excellent Condition.  Some minor nibbles on the raised seating ring and a narrow 1/2" chip on the front bottom to the right (closeup).  No rim chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.  The lid is as made.
