    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Preserve Jar made and stamped by "J. A. and C. W. Underwood, Fort Edward, N.Y."  

     

    This duo ran the pottery in Fort Edward from 1865 to 1867 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 88).  

     

    This beauty features a Clear Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash and a Brushed Cobalt Bird on a Branch Decoration.  Measures 11 1/4" tall.

     

    Good Condition.   A short hairline at the base that wraps under 5", and restoration for chip on the tip of the handle where my pen is pointing.  No chips, cracks, or stains.
