    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Stoneware Batter Jug made and stamped by "W. Roberts, Binghamton, N.Y."

     

    This is the mark of William Roberts, son-in-law of Noah White of Whites Utica Pottery. He founded a branch of the family business in Binghamton in 1848 and ran it until 1888 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, 71).

     

    This beauty features the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and Cobalt Accents around the Pour Spout and Handle Holders. Retains its original handle.  Replacement spout and opening caps.  Measures 9" tall.

     

    Very Good Condition. Chippage on the front top of the spout (closeup 1), and a 3" hairline on the underside in the back (closeup 2).  No rim or base chips, cracks, stains, or restoration.
