Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Uncommon 2 Gallon Crock made and stamped for "W. T. Moore."
William T. Moore was a merchant in groceries and general merchandise in Middlebury, Summit County, Ohio in the 1850's. He had stoneware made for his business. Pieces made for him are not commonly seen ( F. Robert Treichler, A History of Northeast Ohio Stoneware, pp. 48-49.
This beauty features a Grooved Rim for Ease of Tying a Waxed Paper or Cloth Over the Top, an dthe Pottery Stamp on the Shoulder. Measure approximately 9 1/4" tall and 8 3/4" across the top.
This piece comes from the collection of F. Robert Treichler, portions of which I purchased this year.
Excellent Condition. Size small chips inside the rim (1/4" or less). That's it! No outer rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. Oval on top in the making.
