Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Superb 3 Gallon Preserve Jar made and stamped by the "West Troy Pottery, N.Y."
This is the mark used by William Warner of West Troy (now Watervliet) used from 1843 to 1871 (private research)
Circa 1880, this beauty sports the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Very Large Bird on a Branch Decoration in Strong Cobalt created with a Slip Cup. The bird is a full 7" from the tip of her beak to the tip of her tail feathers. Stands 13 1/2" tall.
Excellent Condition. Minor wear around the inner lid seating ring, and a flat 1/2" chip on the back of the right handle. That's it! No rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. A stoneping on the right side in the making.
