Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Jug made and stamped by "Whites, Utica."
This is the work of Nicholas White and his sons, William and Charles who ran the Whites of Utica family pottery from 1865-1886 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 70-71).
This beauty features a Tooled Spout and Shoulder, the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Brushed Cobalt Fantail Running Bird. Exceptionally bright and shiny cobalt was used to create this little guy. Stands 13 1/2" tall
Very Good Condition. Some chips around the spout and a 3/4" chip at the base. No hairlines, cracks, stains or restoration. Some kiln touches around the shoulder in the making.
