Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Crock made and stamped by "Whites, Utica."
This is the work of Nicholas White and his sons, William and Charles who ran the Whites of Utica family pottery from 1865-1886 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 70-71).
This beauty features the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Bird with a Long Tail Feathers Proudly Poised on a Dotted Branch. This was one of Whites signature decorations. This birdie has 11 tailfeathers. Measures 9 1/2" tall and 10" wide across the top.
Very Good Condition. Some water glass staining inside, a 3/8" flat chip on the back of the left handle, and a 3/8" on the underside at the edge. No rim chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration. Some fine bubbling in the cobalt in the making.
