    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Jug made and stamped by "Whites Utica."

     

    This is a work of Nicholas White and his sons, William and Charles, who ran the family pottery from 1865-1886 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 69-70).

     

    This beauty features the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash and a Large Running Bird on a Branch Executed with a Slip Cup.  The little guy has 7 long tailfeathers.  Stands 13 1/2" tall.  

     

    Very Good Condition.  Three minor 1/8" nibbles and two 1/4" ping lines on the spout, a 1/4" chip at the base and some staining from use.   No hairlines, cracks, or restoration.  Some fine bubbles in the cobalt at the tips of the tailfeathers.
