Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Stoneware Jug stamped "Whites Binghamton."
This is work of William Roberts, son-in-law of Noah White of Whites Utica Pottery. He founded a branch of the family business in Binghamton in 1848 and ran it until 1888 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 71)
This beauty features the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and Cobalt Poppy Decoration Created with a Slip Cup. The floral has an abundance of dots. This was a signature design for Whites. Stands 12" tall.
Very Good Condition. Three small chips on the spout (1/8" to 3/16"), a couple nibbles and a 1/2" chip on the bottom edge, a small surface craze spider on the back center, and small traces of red paint. No hairlines, cracks stains, or restoration.
