Item 10746
Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Jug made and stamped by "Whites Utica."
This is a mark of Nicholas White and his sons, William and Charles, who ran the family pottery from 1865-1886 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 70-71).
This beauty features the Pottery Stamp and a Large Parrot Perched on a Stump Decoration. This was one of Whites signature decorations. Its simplicity is rivaled only by its beauty. This particular parrot is nicely perched front and center on the jug and boasts bright and shiny cobalt. Stands 13 1/2" tall.
Excellent Condition. A 3/4" chip on the left side near the bottom, and a narrow 2 1/2" chip on the right side at the bottom. That's it! No spout chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoraton. Clearly the spout tilts to the left in the making.
