Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful Whites of Utica Stoneware Canteen.
It was made by the Whites Pottery of Utica, New York between 1890 and 1907 when they made their fantastic molded stoneware. You can see a picture of it in Christopher Bensch, The Blue and the Gray: Oneida County Stoneware, p. 26.
This beauty features a Beaded Cartouche Hosting a Stone Wine Cellar with Three Gentlemen Around a Barrel Drinking from Large Tankards. This is an example of the smaller of the White's Canteens- 6 1/2" in diameter.
Excellent Condition. A 3/16" flake on the side of a footer. That's it! No spout or base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. Some bubbling in the glaze on the left side in the making.
