Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Wonderful Little Blue and Gray Stein with Fancy Lid.
It was made by the Whites Pottery of Utica, New York between 1890 and 1907 when Whites made its innovative molded stoneware. You will find similar steins in Christopher Bensch, The Blue and the Gray: Oneida County Stoneware, pp. 73-75.
This beauty features a Background of Tiny Triangles with an Old Gentleman in an Hat on one sida and Vine with Berries on the other. Fancy Borders Frame the Body with an Elaborate one at the Bottom. Detailed metal cover with a young lady at the thumb grip. All the embossed decoration is hightlighted in cobalt. The pottery is 6 1/2" tall and the entire stein is 8 1/2" tall.
Excellent Condition. The stoneware portion has some staining on the underside. Otherwise as made. The lid has some wear on the edge. No dents.
