Item 10042
Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Exquisitely Molded Stein with Dog Decoration.
This beauty was made by the Whites Pottery of Utica, N.Y. and features exquisite detailing that only the Whites Pottery could do in its heyday of making molded stoneware (1890-1907) .
This stein features a Pewter Lid with a Goddess on the Thumbgrip; Striped Top Border; Layered, Striped and Beaded Bottom Border and Footer; and a Dog in the Center framed by a Bugler on the left and a Man Pouring Drink on the Right. Stands 5 1/4" tall.
How this decoration goes together is beyond my reasoning powers, but the well-made executed dog makes the stein very special, for pottery from this period did not often features dogs or cats.
Exceptional Condition. As made. No damage of any kind.
