Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this supreme 3 Gallon Jar made by "Wilkinson and Fleming, Shinnston, W. VA."
Wilkinson & Fleming made stoneware in Shinnston from 1885-1895 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 100).
This beauty features a Thick Tooled Rim, Applied Handles, and Company Advertising in Large Block Letters Surrounding a Big Center Rose. All the stenciling is complete, crisp, and sporting deep and shiny cobalt. The letters on this piece are the largest that I have ever seen on stoneware by this maker. Stands 13 1/2"
Excellent Condition. Three adjacent chips on the underside at the front edge (1/4" to 1"), and some faint surface lines on the bottom of the right side. That's it! No rim chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
