Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this fabulous 10 Gallon Jar made by "Williams & Reppert, Greensboro, PA."

This is the work of William Williams and Thomas Reppert who worked together from 1880-1884 and again after 1890 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners , pp 157-58).  This jar was probably fired in the 1880-1884 period because it was fired with wood and is light in color, not after 1890 with this duo fired the kiln with coal which made the jars darker in color.

This beauty features a Larger Size, Top to Bottom Decoration, and Impeccable Condition.  From the top down are two straight stripes framing the rim, a wavy stripe across the shoulder, the company advertising atop a floral arch housing an eagle with a two shield breastplate with tulips in the upper corners in the middle, and a freehand capacity number flanked by leaves riding a wavy and straight stripe at the bottom.  Additional cobalt at the handle terminals.  Complete and crisp stenciling.  Stands 21 1/2" tall.

Excellent Condition.  A single flat 3/4" chip on the front of the left handle, and a couple of small and light stains on the back.  That's it!  No rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
