Item 10836
Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this handsome 1 Gallon Stoneware Pitcher with Floral.
The decoration on this pitcher makes it is easy to attribute to William and Charles Wingender of Haddonfield, N.J. They ran the pottery in Haddonfield from 1883 to 1923. This is an earlier work as its salt glaze and cobalt brushed decoration attest.
This beauty features a Squared Rim, Pinched Spout, Tall Neck, Ringed Shoulder, Bulbous and Tapered Body, Footer, and Brushed Dotted Floral Dangling from a Branch Decoration. This was one of Wingender's signature decorations. I have always likened it to a strawberry. Additional cobalt accent at the handle terminals. Stands 10 1/4" tall.
Excellent Condition. Two flakes inside the rim by the handle (1/8", 3/8"). That's it! No outer rim chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. A faint kiln touch to the right of the decoration in the making.
