Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Wonderful 4 Quart Stoneware Script Jug stamped "Cortland."
This jug is the work of Madison Woodruff who ran the pottery in Cortland, New York from 1849-1885 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 71).
This beauty sports the pottery stamp and the Capacity Number and Designation in Bold, Bright and Shiny Cobalt. Stands 10 1/2" tall.
Excellent Condition. A 3/16" nibble on the spout and some light staining from use. No base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration. A 1" firing line at the base in the making (closeup).
