Item 4564
Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Oversized Yellow Ware Mug made for the Cincinnati Cooperage Company.
This company made barrels in Cincinnati in the 19th century.
Dating to the late 19th century, this beauty sports wonderful graphics. It is molded to resemble the barrels the company made. One side features two cherubs pouring a drink from a large barrel, and the other side features vines growing up the barrel. The front hosts the company name in a plaque surrounded by hops. This is a tall mug, almost a stein, measuring 7 1/8" tall .
You can see a similar mug featured in Lisa S McAllister, Collector's Guide to Yellow Ware, Book II, p. 82.
Good Condition. Three glaze flakes on the cherub side (side of the barrel, top of the stein, and knee of one cherub), and a 3/8" glaze flake at the base on the otherside. No rim chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
