Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful Yellow Ware Seated Dog Figural Doorstop in Rockingham Glaze.
Dating to the 1860's, this beauty is a Seated Spaniel with Elaborate and Distinctive Fur. This is a better quality example, having separate forelegs and exquisite detail, mounted on a fancy base. Stands 11" tall, with a base that is 8 1/2" wide and 5 1/4" deep.
You can see similar doorstops in Lisa McAllister's, Collector's Guide to Yellow Ware, Book 2, p. 90 and Book 3, p. 72. Those pictured are attributed to East Liverpool, Ohio in the 1860's and 1870's
Excellent Condition. A 3/16" chip on the back bottom and three flakes on the underside at the edge (1/8" to 3/8"). No body chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
