Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful Yellow Ware Match Holder and Striker in the Form of a Victorian Shoe.
 
Dating to the late 19th century, this beauty features a Button Shoe with Fancy Top Mounted on a Base.  The matches were stored in the shoe and the matches were struck on the top of the base.  Shiny Rockingham glaze.  Measures 4 3/4" tall, and the base is 4" long and 2 1/2" wide.  
 
Excellent Condition.  Six small, narrow, and flat flakes on the underside edge of the base (1/8" to 1/4").  No shoe chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
